I have the default ios8 wallpaper yet. Nothing custom or fancy. Setting or changing to other default wallpapers does not make the grey bottom home screen bar to go away. Anyone knows what I can do? The wallpaper is fine and full screen on the lock screen. On the home screen the bottom bar is grey. Any tips?

Please take a screenshot of your screen (press home button and power button at the same time) and upload it. I'd like to see what you're talking about.

You mean the dock/app tray? It will always be there, but if you have reduce transparency switched on it will be a more solid grey as opposed to a frosty glass bathroom shelf...

Attached. Thanks for any help you are able to provide in advance.

Notice the bottom home screen bar? The wallpaper is not stretched from top to bottom. Shouldn't it be?

This has been present since iOS7 and most agree that it's pretty nasty, but I'm afraid you're stuck with it.

Oh really? I was trying to change to a non default wallpaper and since then I've been wondering if I did something wrong. I never noticed that the bottom bar was a slab of solid color for the last 3-4 years now!

In iOS6 it looked like this, which was much nicer:

Check out Apple Watch. Tons of 3D there which the watch faces especially.

I think even Apple realizes they went a little bit too far with the whole flat thing in iOS 7/8. Every major piece of software they've produced since then (Yosemite, Watch OS) has seen more 3D elements slip back in, even if the overall look is still mostly flat. I'm hoping against hope that Apple might even consider walking iOS back to look more like Yosemite in iOS 9. Unlikely, I know, but I hope anyway!

That's the dock. You can't change it, unfortunately.

The dock is blurred. The color depends on your wallpaper. Mine is green.

Due to the folders and docking bar, it's a lot harder to find a home screen pic that 'works'. I find that I can't necessarily have the photo I want, but have to make do with the one that works the best. A green docking bar and folders would have me reaching for the delete button ASAP.☺️

Oh I agree. On some wallpapers the folders and dock get a really boring color. I'm not the biggest fan of photographed wallpapers. I guess those get the most abuse. I'm more into abstract. Imo this looks good, I like the blur.

Your weather app seems to have gone all Star Wars on you.#
