How well does it work on a mid 2009 13" 2.26 MBP? Also, since it is not firmware upgradeable on a Mac, is that a problem for potential Mac users? Thanks.

Well, I just upgraded my 2011 13" MBP and it is fantastic. However, I am not sure if your machine has SATA III - so you would not see the full speed potential.

Either way, the price is great, and your HD speed now is likely MUCH slower than what you would get with the 840 on SATA II.

Check out disk speed test from blackmagic and post your current read and write speeds.

That drive will work fine, but you will not see the full advertised speeds because your machine is limited SATA II speeds.

I suppose it is "potentially" an issue about the firmware, but past Samsung drives have been very stable and have not required firmware fixes. I would not worry about it.
