Bottom Search Bar - A New Design Trend?

I hope the new Maps app sets a new design trend for search bars are the bottom of the screen!

All apps should implement this.

I'm surprised they didn't start moving apps this direction when the 6/6+ came out. It would also make more sense now for app icons to force to the bottom of pages instead of the top with bigger phones, of course it's get even better if they would stop force aligning them period.
