iPad Bought a 3rd Gen iPad, with no SIM card included. Can I add any company's SIM?

I just snatched a 3rd gen iPad 64GB for $300 on eBay and noticed its not just the Wifi version. It has a SIM card slot on the side, though no SIM card was included and am wondering how i can find out which cell phone company it belong to.. or if i can walk into sprint, verizon or ATT and get any of their services?

I suppose i'll ask again seeing as I couldn't locate a solid answer elsewhere.

Can I add any US carriers SIM to my 3rd Gen iPad seeing as it didn't include one? Or is it tied down to a specific carrier? Or is there complicated work down the line considering the circumstance?

All iPads come unlocked. Though I'm not sure if you will be able to access LTE on ATT's network

T-Mobile or ATT will work, but only on 4G.
