I bought a Logitec MX Anywhere for Mac mouse and Magic keyboard because my MB sits on an elevated stand now.

I think I'll get the Apple trackpad instead. I miss the side scrolling with a trackpad/finger swipes. Can that be done with a mouse?

A mouse just feels unnatural to me. Are trackpads now considered to be better than mice?

I have both mx master 3 and trackpad. you can swipe different desktops using the button on the left side of the mx master 3. but I don't use mx master. I only use trackpad and I find it much better. I use my Mac M1 Max docked almost 90% of the time!

What I mean is let's say you hover over a bunch of Safari tabs. If you swipe L/R you can scroll through all of them. You cannot do this with a mouse. That goes for any sideways scrolling. It's quite annoying and you don't realize how great that is until you move to an ol' school mouse.

The mouse was made decades ago therefore most people, especially windows users don't know what they're missing. While Logitec and others were busy improving the mouse, it's really not much different from a 1980's mouse. While the trackpad is evolutionary. At least that's my take on it.

If you need pixel precision then you'd probably want a Wacom setup. I don't lose any precision moving from mouse to trackpad.

The scroll wheel even on the Logitec MX is also hit and miss.

OP:
"I miss the side scrolling with a trackpad/finger swipes. Can that be done with a mouse?"

Have you tried "pushing left" and "pushing right" on the mouse scroll wheel?

The MX Anywhere 3 doesn't has the side scrolling feature that is present in Anywhere 2...
Interesting how these companies call downgrades upgrades. It's ok, I'm returning it this week and getting a trackpad.
