bought a new iphone with firmware 1.0.2, need help...

hi, i bought an iphone which have firmware 1.0.2 pre-installed, i want to unlock it with firmware 1.1.1, my question is, do i have to unlock the phone with firmware 1.0.2 first and then update the firmware to 1.1.1 using manual restore OR manual restore to firmware 1.1.1 first and then unlock it, i know how to unlock the iphone in both versions, but im counfused, which one should i do? and please give me tutorial to update a brand new iphone from firmware 1.0.2 to 1.1.1.. thanks,
 
someone, please help me! im stuck, i owned iphone with firmware 1.0.2, i want to unlock it with firmware 1.1.1, should i update it straight away to 1.1.1 and then unlock it, or unlock it first and then update it to 1.1.1, help me please! thank you..
