I plugged on my iPod Touch 16 gig for the first time on my pc. Its been 30 minutes, and its still on the same battery screen with low battery and the charging sign on it.

Something wrong?

Try to unplug and restart the Touch (hold top button for a few seconds). Then plug it in again.

The initial battery charge process takes quite a while. Depending on how much the battery de-charged while it was packed.

If it takes longer then 3 hours (Approx. time from dead flat to full), then I'd be worried.

Done, but to no avail. :|

Let it charge longer.

My PC makes a sound whenever i connect or disconnect it. But nothing else. Not even on iTunes.

I'm worried. This didnt happen with my Nano.

Do you have an AC charger?

Plug it into the wall and see if that does anything.

I do.

But that one was for my old Nano, 2nd Gen, I think.

PS-
Just plugged out my iPod, it showed about 1/4th battery on the top.
Now when I connect it, it shows a screen telling me to connect it to iTunes.

iTunes is open.

The charger for your nano will still work.

As for it not showing up in iTunes. Try re-downloading iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes and see if that helps.

There have been reports on some Macs at least that the default iTunes installation seems to skip part of the Apple Mobile Device software needed for iTunes to recognise the iPod touch.

or before you do that, restart your computer.

Just plug it into the wall, and if its not charged in a few hours, you may have hardware issues

Thanks guys. Problem solved.

Or rather, there wasn't really one. :D

Thanks for the help again.

What was it? I'm on the phone to Apple now :p

I think his iPod just needed quality time with the charger

That is disgusting, i would be outraged! Get back on the phone and tell them you want it by tomorrow, I would, seriously!

Well I sent it in on the 12th I think it is and it's the 17th now.
Here's what it says: (and has for the last day)

How long would you say? It has been a day exactly now and I'm starting to get annoyed.

EDIT: AND they have to ship it, still.

You do realise Apple processes the replacement of thousands upon thousands of iPods every day? Give it at least another day, it took them a few to replace mine.

My iPod Touch took 1 week to be replaced and I live in Spain. I was quite impressed with the speed and the fact that the replacement had all the extra 'iPhone' apps included for free.

True, but at the moment, it would be like buying a car, driving it for 2 hours and then it break - feel annoyed :p

I can wait, I suppose.

You are correct to be annoyed, it's wrong. THey should be able to source you one from the country you are in if its DOA and get it to you fast.

I would hope they aren't RMAing thousands a day? I know millions of units have been sold, but if thousands a day are breaking, i would be worried!

There is no harm in giving them a call, sometimes they will respond to it, sometimes they won't. But you have nothing to lose, if i were you, i would get on the phone. Others are more patient.

After 2 hours, yeah, I can understand how annoyed you'd be
I think I'm just dwelling on the fact that the box only took a day to get here, the same day it went back. The next day it was down for sending me a replacement. I just hope it comes for tomorrow/saturday (do UPS even deliver on a Saturday? I hope so otherwise nobody will be in to sign for it :(
