Hey guys,

I'm extremely excited for this upgrade. Going from a 750gb 5400 stock drive to an OWC mercury extreme pro 240gb and a 750gb WD zScorpio black (using the data double to put the Scorpio in my optical bay).

I am wondering, however, about transferring my data from my old drive to the new ones. First of all, I should mention two things: I regularly back up with time machine, and my current drive has permissions problems that disk utility couldnt repair. The system still runs, but I need to repair it via an external/cd boot, and seeing as my MBP didn't come with an OS cd (running 10.6 currently) the only way to do this is at the apple store, and I haven't had time lately to take care of this.

Sooo.. I'm wondering about how I should go about transferring my OS/apps/etc to my new drive. Im gonna use the SSD for apps/OS and my Scorpio black for all other stuff. I've thought about using time machine to do a restore, but feel this would be a bad idea because: 1) my drive is currently not in the best state, and 2) I only want to transfer apps/my OS to the SSD, and everything else to the Scorpio.. I don't know if a time machine restore could do this.

So I'm wondering how anybody out there suggests I go about this? I know I could do a clean reinstall, and I'm totally open to doing this for the OS, but I use logic/ableton/pro tools/loads of plugins and VSTs and reinstalling everything would take forevvvver - omnisphere and logic are 100gb just by them selves and take a day to install, not to mention I won't have a cd drive anymore.
Is there an easy way to transfer applications from my backup to the new drive (with their authorizations and such)? Sorry for the long ass post and thanks a buch to anybody who offers any help/advice!
