The product I bought is from AFTERTHEMAC
G54SL+ Mac Wireless USB Adapter

I currently own a 17" Powerbook G4 (the top of the line model I'm not exactly sure how else to identify it).

In the dorms, the signal is weak, it goes out off and on. So I bought this.
I'm running speed tests right now (not in my dorm though, I am home now) and it seems to be exactly the same as the airport extreme built in.

I'm questioning if this USB thing really does get better range. Or is it just the fact that it has a 5ft usb cable with it?

Does anyone have any opinions on this product?

Should get marginally better range due to the antenna being outside the computer casing (all things being equal), but I wouldn't expect a massive difference.
