Hi, first post here. Just bought my sister a mac book pro as a graduation gift. Wondering what all I should do to it to make it extra ready and special before I wrap it up for the party.

I was thinking so far
- load all her songs into iTunes
-setup a cool geektool theme
-copy her documents onto it

Ideas?

Thanks!

Bootcamp Windows 7 on it.
- Install Office 2010 on Windows and 2011 on Mac.
- Install FireFox w/ Adblock
- Setup Dropbox account for her
- Install Facebook or Twitter apps for her w/e she uses
- Most importantly Block the FarmVille website

Find some Help sites for her new Mac, and bookmark them.

Setup email for her if you can.

Make her a custom wallpaper that says "My brother is so awesome, he just bought me this amazing MBP, now I owe him big time" :D Just kidding!

Probably the worst recommendation ever for a new mac user.

To the OP. Does your sister use any apps that really require Windows? If not dont install it. If she has used Windows PC before, let her try OSX first and see if she likes it or not. People tend to like OSX more than Windows after actually trying it.

What you think of doing is great. But maybe after your sister opens her gift first.

Maybe buy a case for her, a carrying bag, keyboard cover and palmguard(both by Moshi)

I definitely wouldn't reccomend installing windows unless she really needs it. And I would second the recomendation to leave it new in the box, you can help her set it up after she opens it.

I bought my sister the same graduation gift and gave it to her new in box. She loves it :)

I second this. Let her have the enjoyment of opening the mac for the first time :D

Definitely. Don't spoil it for her. Theya re so easy to set up, she can do that herself when she's had the fun of turning it on for the first time
