I'm a videographer and work a lot with Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe After Effects and whatnot. For video I invested in the 15inch MBPro with the 2.7ghz i7 processor with 8GB of RAM, a 750GB Serial drive at 7200rpm with an antiglare screen. Should this last me 4 years or is this the wrong computer for me?

It will last you, as you can upgrade to 16 GB RAM (cheaper than the 8 GB RAM update from Apple) via Newegg or Crucial or others and replace the HDD with an SSD and replace the optical disk drive (ODD) with the HDD or another SSD.

I agree with simsaladimbamba. You could save a few bucks and not upgrade to 8GB of RAM from Apple. 16GB from OWC is about $60 more than the 8GB from Apple.

If you need the antiglare then the rMBP is out, though it has less glare than the cMBP. This machine will definitely last four years.
