I bought a used iPad for my elderly mom who will use it to read books (eyesight issues). It has many books and the seller said I could sync them. How do I do this as I don't have his account (obviously?). I want to keep those books and be able to buy her new ones. 3P software on a computer with no iTunes account? (I have an iPhone so have an account, but don't want to lose my stuff). Any advice welcome. thanks

I don't think you can, since they are linked to his account, and not yours/hers.

Ebooks generally are not legally transferable, and therefore no mechanism has been built in to allow what you're trying to do.

That said--what format/app are these books in? If they don't have DRM-protection on them, it might be possible. Some books are sold without it.
