bounce, bounce, bounce

Running OSX 10.2.3 on a 733MHZ G4 and the finder icon bounces constantly, sometimes bringing itself to the front, for no apparent reason, even when no other apps are running.

There is no error message or anything, just bounces away, annoyingly, all day long, any ideas anyone?

try restarting the finder...go to apple menu>force quit and click the finder and then relaunch

Hmm.. that is odd... even if the Finder was not launching correctly, it should stop after 83 bounces.....

try trashing its preferences file.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

that fixed a lot of things.

Thanks, however, that file is already missing. which means?

It means it's not automatically creating a prefs file like it should. Boot into 9, back up, and reinstall the system.
