With good behaviour he'll be out in 2 and a half years minus any time he's been held on remand. If he's been on remand since the attack (I don't know if he has) he could be out at the end of the year.

That is a very sad case. I hope that bouncer will receive some anger management counseling. All that they needed to do was to escort him from the bar. The rest was completely uncalled for actions. :(

If a bouncer tried that in the area I grew up they would probably wind up in the hospital or the morgue after the victim's friends retaliated.

How sad is that? :(

I was thinking about this... if I lost my eye sight because of something like this... as a designer and visual person, I'd have nothing... :(

I'd pay someone to slot his sorry arse... preferably by wedging a screw driver in his eye...

In a situation like this, 5 years is just a total farce... he needs 20+ and his eye removing so he has to suffer like is victim... an eye for an eye so to speak.

Caveman is right, he'll be out after a year. This country's a disgrace sometimes. That was a truly horrific and life-changing thing he did. Worse, he appeared not to show any remorse.

I don't know about the UK but I normally get sick of all the frivolous lawsuits over here. That being said, I think one is DEFINITELY merited in this case. It would be one thing if they guy were rowdy and causing trouble, but he was freaking falling asleep!
