...is there any way to switch it off....if possible on a program by program basis.....I find it annoying that everytime I get an email the AOL icon keeps hoping up and down until I go to the program...if possible its just AOL that I'd turn this feature off for....

What version of the AOL client are you using? 10.2.1 and newer has an option in the preferences to turn off the mail dock bounce.
