Now that's it's been out for awhile, and based on people's experiences, if I'm looking to upgrade Tiger to Snow Leopard, should I get the box set or no? I rarely use the "i" suites as it is. Just wondering what might be the best route, since apparently the box set doesn't include anything to do with Leopard. Thanks all, much appreciated!

Legally, you should get the Box Set.

Umm...if you don't find yourself using iLife or iWork very often, the not so legal of the options might be a better idea.

like the mackid said legally you should get the box set, but ahem this may not totally be to your advantage. :p

What makes you say that? Enough decent upgrades over '06?

Yes. I didn't really like iPhoto until iPhoto '08 came out. Now, it's used at my house almost everyday and stores every digital photo I've taken. iPhoto '09 has even more features, but I didn't have to buy the box set, so I haven't upgraded yet.

Good point. And I guess it isn't too bad of a deal when iLife and iWork retail for $80 a piece as it is. Do you lose any of your programs (i.e. Microsoft Office) when putting SL on there?

Forgot to add, once one adds Snow Leopard, would that basically render iLife and iWork 06 useless? Like would it even recognize it?

They should work just fine but what would be the point? The iLife 09 and iWork 09 are significant upgrades and you wouldn't be interested in the old stuff plus there will always be more support for the new apps. iMovie 09 is worth paying for the iLife suite alone, if you haven't tried out iMovie 09 it certainly is worth the upgrade. You can also check out Apple's website for video tutorials on the new iLife and iWork features.
