I now have my black Macbook listed on eBay. I thought I had saved the original cardboard box that Apple shipped the notebook to me in and I had planned to use that to ship the notebook upon selling it. Apparently I threw the box away. What is the best way to ship this now? The shipping will be via USPS. Thanks

Buy a box of similar size, put the MB in said box with appropriate padding.

In the UK you can buy all sorts of padding from office supply, post office, some newsagents.

If you put in a protective cover you could even use scrunched up newspaper to act as the padding.

If you are really paranoid buy two boxes of different sizes and put a layer of padding between those.

I have the original MacBook box so I just need a box to slip that into. I don't want to ship it in only the MacBook box.

I just remembered, I think we have a few shipping supply stores around and I'm sure I can find a box there.
