Love the band. Wear it all the time. Don’t love that it’s starting to fray. :(

At least you got your watch. I'm still waiting for mine. That's why I got the Leather Link instead of this one or the Solo. It seems both "new" things have problems for people with sizing or being itchy or this. Are you able to return and exchange it?

I knew this was going to be an issue for people. It’s yarn worn in a high traffic area. This is expected wear and tear from a knitter’s point of view.

This is not good. This very expensive band is wearing poorly as is some peoples expensive Magic Keyboard. Hopefully this band is a lemon and not indicative of these bands in general.

I was worried when I got my Magic Keyboard, because I thought it would start looking all worn and dirty after a few weeks, but it still looks almost as good as new!

Yeah I’m only seeing it on one end. I guess it must happen when my arm/wrist rubs up against my body. Still not happy to see it happening so soon. And with a band that’s so expensive.

That’s exactly how it’s happening. And you can be upset about it. But it’s like being upset with gravity. The timing of it happening is irrelevant as is the expense. The most expensive yarn/garment will still pill in high use areas. What’s happening to your band is called pilling, btw.

Yep, same happens to sweaters.

Haha pretty much every garment I own pills at some point. I just didn’t expect it to happen to this band so soon. I wonder if Apple has it anywhere in the fine print on their website. It certainly will make me think twice about ever getting another one.

That’s the only thing I can fault  for. They’re should be a disclaimer just like they did when they stated ie would stretch over time.

Depends on the thread materials. Cheaper materials will fray easier.

I highly doubt  is using cheap materials. Just because the yarn is recycled doesn’t mean it’s cheap. Yarn is a spun fiber. It was always going to fray. I’m no expert, but I have 15 years handknitting experience and I’ve worked with very expensive yarns. All will pill. The softer the fiber means it will pill more faster. The coarser the fiber means it will pill less slower. However, you won’t want to wear it next to the skin. A blend can make soft fibers stronger, but they will still pill.

Oh is that what the concern is? I’ve had mine since summer 2019 and it still looks new. I use it literally every day now too because of the pandemic. It’s not like I’m out wrenching on a car and then sitting down at my MacBook.

Regarding the loop, you could clean it up a bit with a clothes shaver if it annoys you that much but I don’t think there is much else to be done about it.

Interesting. I'm not an expert and defer to you but I've seen woven nylon denier based thread last decades in other kinds of applications that are far more stressful than a watch band.

Remember there is a year warranty on Apple accessories.

That’s all that can be done. I would go over it very carefully.

Two very different materials that do not behave in a similar manner.
