Braintree MA store??

Job listing: Store Manager

A friend of mine just came back from the South Shore plaza reporting of a store that is covered up displaying only an Apple logo on it.... I am sooo excited, hope that this is true! :D

Just found that the job is listed on Monster... posted on AUG 3. they are looking for everything, manger, specialist, keyholder.. etc

edit - also found that there is a listing for an RI Providence Place store... found that listed here

thats not entirely accurate...

Providence (RI) - Providence Place mall - indoor, 3-level downtown mall. At an April 2004 conference, Sr. V-P Retail Ron Johnson said the company had been trying to arrange a space in the mall for over a year, and will eventually find a prime space there for a retail store.

thats not a 'listing,' thats a 'we are gonna build one here, we just don't know when'

meanwhile is the Braintree location closer to Providence than the Chestnut hill location?

yes, it is. braintree is off 93, and i believe it would put you slightly closer to providence (closer to 95) than chestnut hill. I could be wrong, but i live fairly close to the chestnut hill store, and have had to travel to the braintree borders store for meetings, etc and its on the other side of boston from me....

That Braintree mall is such a crap-shack, I can't believe they would put an apple store there. Apple should open up on Newbury street or in one of the big squares in Cambridge. Stop going to all these malls!

newbury st i could see, but its probably wicked expensive for rent.
For all the squares cambridge has, there really isnt one thats upscale enough for apple's style. Harvard Sq. is way too toursity, and places like central square or kendall square have a local flavor that doesn't lend itself well to upscale shopping.
Also, malls offer A LOT more exposure than a freestanding store in the middle of a city, not to mention they are easier to secure in terms of store security. (when closed. shoplifting is worse in mall stores though.)

I really hope thats true because I live right down the street from that mall. I don't go there that often, but I did go about 2 weeks ago and never saw the store...

Newbury Street would be an excellent site. Then Boston could have a Flag Ship Store to rival the others.

The South Shore Mall in Braintree would be an easy location for those in Providence. It would be about a 30 - 45 minute drive. The Chestnut Hill Mall Store is about 10 minutes from my house. Braintree would be about a 30 - 45 minute drive for me. Usually like to visit the Hilltop Steak House which is in the area.

I agree that Newbury Street would be an excellent place for a Flag Ship Store... they should have purchased the FAO Schwartz's building, that would have been one hell of an Apple store.

The only complaint that I would have about the location is that I would never go, well maybe once every 3 months. Braintree however will get frequent visits, plus parking is free and traffic is less of a hassle for us traveling from the Cape.

As much as I'd love to see Apple make a flag ship store in Boston, let's face it, it's never going to happen. Steve hates Boston (and I hate CA so were even there) to the point where he wouldn't have the apple both at the macworld-boston expo. Boston, NY, CA, Chicago, Tokyo, Paris, London and maybe 2 more in europe should be the flagship store rotation IMHO. Here's to hoping....
