Hey guys,

I was looking online for a Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter, and I seem to see the same cables listed as MDP-to-HDMI... Are these one and the same on an MBA? Like a Thunderbolt-enabled Mini DisplayPort or something?

Thanks!

Yes. On my 2011 MBP with thunderbolt I use a MDP to HDMI adapter all the time. Just make sure you get one that says it support audio. Early MDP models didn't pass audio, so there are still some adapters floating around that only do video.

Thunderbolt is data + Mini-Displayport, so it's backwards compatible with Mini-Displayport adapters and cables.
