Brand new 15 R key doesn't work

I receieved a new 13 3.3/16/512 earlier is week and other than the previously discussed sub-par battery life, it's been perfect. No crashes, physical flaws, super stable, fast, etc.

Today I purchased a stock 15 2.7/16/512 to setup for another employee. Couldn't even get past the initial setup since the R key only works 25% of the time and our corporate wifi password has an R in it. Right back to the Apple store it goes! I'm very used to this keyboard having used a MB for the past year and then the 13 for almost a week. It's definitely broken out of the box, it's not me.

I had a very similar problem. Bought a non-touchbar that worked great, but decided to switch up to the 15" tb. When I went to enter my email address on the setup screen, the period key didn't work unless I mashed it. It seemed to improve after pressing the key a few times, but now when I'm writing, tapping the period key occasionally results in two keypresses registering. Going back to the Apple Store tomorrow.
