Why should we care? It's obviously worth $1225 to the buyer. More power to the seller who managed to get that amount for it.

No, I just think this is a pointless thread and a waste of bandwidth.

Why should anyone care whether a 2011 MBP is worth $1225? We're not the ones buying it.

OK I see where you're coming from now. You think that it's totally taboo to speculate what the value of an Apple product should be. Leave that up to Apple because it's none of our business.

I feel sorry for the buyer, misinformed by the seller and got scammed!

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as HELL, so enjoy your $1225 ;)

Nope, utter ripoff, unboxed or not. I wouldn't even pay half that for an Early 2011 15" machine. dGPU failures, underpowered GPU, slow base CPU compared to 2012, USB 2...

Yeah, buyer definitely bought the wrong machine.

Given the fact that you can get a newer Mac with warranty for less, well, guess what my opinion is :)

Apple.ca was selling a refurbished 13" mid-2012 with 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB hard drive for $1139.00 CAD and they all sold in a few days so a 15" for $1225 may not be unreasonable?

Not at all. Apple has nothing to do with setting resale prices of old model equipment. That's determined entirely by the market.
