Got my new iMac up and running now, strange issue though ... No sound. After googling for a bit, it turns out that you have to just plug some headphones in and remove them.

I did that, and now I have sound. What a strange problem to have in a brand new machine though

strange indeed, did not happen to me.

Played the startup sound fine though. Very weird. Thought I would post just in case someone else had the same problem and couldn't resolve it

Some Apple discussions saying it might be a software issue. Rebooted the iMac, and the same thing happened again, which kind of indicates its an NVRAM issue. Maybe I will clear that out. Possibly migrating from previous Mac brought across the issue
