I just bought a 2.0GHz iMac and the boot-up seems to be pretty sloooooooooooow. About how long is "normal"?

Also, set up my mail account but cannon send mail...HELP!!

I would expect about 20 or 30 seconds for startup, but the first startup usually takes a while, as do startups after updates.

As for the mail, most of the problems I've ever had have been simply operator errors, a.k.a. me typing in some numbers wrong somewhere. You just need to get the right information from whoever is providing your email. In the menu bar check out Mail>Preferences>Accounts and look under the Account Information and Advanced tabs. If you fill those in correctly, it should work.

A google search should get you the details for most services, gmail, yahoo, etc.

A lot of SMTP servers now require SSL security settings and alternate ports to be configured before you can send email. I'd recommend checking with your mail provider for the correct settings.
