I purchased a Macbook a couple of weeks ago as I am currently traveling and needed a laptop bad.
This evening I put a DVD in and it wouldn't play. It didn't even read anything.
I then tried a number of variable CDs and the same thing happened.

This macbook isn't even one month old and is in perfect condition.
Is this just pure bad look and the laser has broken before it was even put to use?

When you get home, take it into an Apple Store, or if you're far from one, your local Apple Authorized Repair center, and they should replace the drive no issue under warranty.

The thing that is slightly bothering is that I bought the microsoft word disc to set it up on my laptop and it read that disc no bother.
So the laser can clearly read something, just not DVDs and CDs?

apple favoring microsoft???? lol. im sure that if you can get to an apple store they can fix it for free. just do that. don't push it till it gets worse.
