I got my brand new MBP 13" but my battery seems to be not good. I only have 96% capacity fully charged.

Is this normal? Should I return it? Thanks

Don't worry, the measurements aren't that accurate. My rMBP showed 104% when I got, and would sometimes just drop 5% for a few days and then come back up. I gradually stopped giving a damn about it. Three years later it's at 92% but the battery life feels more like 80% or so.

96% is your level of charge. The battery condition is almost 100%. With that said, I agree ..give it a few cycles as my 2016 has 17 cycles & still shows between 99% & 103%. The refurb 2015 I just got shows 103-105%

Run down till 50% and charge back up 100% for overnight. You will see it back to 100% or even more at morning when open up your laptop.

Yes, but it is fully charged and does not go up anymore.

I will let it go down to 50% and then charge it. Thanks.

It's 96% charged.
[doublepost=1501935590][/doublepost]Being new it's possible if you use iCloud for photos & documents it's working..indexing.. etc. Give it a day or 2. From all the new ones I've seen I would eventually expect a capacity % above 100% for a while though.

I think you pretty new to MacBook :p. This percentage is like my car RPM always up and down. If I'm you just ignore it. It not important. Start worry when your battery start not last as long as before. Enjoy your new laptop my friend

It does fluctuate. However, new MacBoooks.. even refurbished..often (normally?) come with over 100% of battery capacity.

That is not guaranteed.sometimes new MacBook with 98%,100% or even I seen 106% but after few cycle it turn back normal. Range between 98% to 106% for new MacBook is normal because system need few cycle to correct. Just tune down 50% and charge it till morning and see what come up. If still lower then bring back to exchange. But I positively believed will correct the percentage after you did that.

Keep in mind that if your battery charge is at 96% or more, then it will not charge. Let it run on battery until it drops below 95% (the suggestion for 50% would be there, too :D ), then plug in. It should start charging then.

Makes sense. Mine baselined at about 100% at about 15 cycles.

Your was touch bar?
Mine is 2016 13" Touch Bar
[doublepost=1502025693][/doublepost]This is really a good question. Can someone else with a 2016 13" Touch Bar share their standard battery capacity? What if the batteries in the non-repaired 2016's 13" are different than repaired 2016 & new 2017?

4315 mah. What the hell is repair and non repair?? All mbp repairable l.
[doublepost=1502026818][/doublepost]Non touch bar battery is slightly bigger at 47** mah

Note - can check original/standard mAh by using battery app like Battery 2.

Asking if you have 2016 13" TB that has not been repaired what is standard mAh?
If you have 2016 13" TB that has been repaired what is standard mAh per battery app?
What is 2017 13" TB standard mAh battery capacity.

Only asking as it seems someone with 2017 has stated higher mAh & will be interesting to compare to mAh in repaired 2016 13" TB. Per many posts here it would seem 2017 & repaired top case 2016 might be equal.

Take the MacBook OFF the charger, let it run the battery down to about 40% or so, then reconnect it and let it charge to 100%, then recheck battery using Coconut Battery...

my friend all mbp 2016 or 2017 battery is the same. repair or non repair is still the same. you can't put mbp ntb or mbp 15" to mbp 13" touch bar. it wont work. so all macbook pro 13" touch bar battery is 4315 mah.

answer your question = yes i'm owned mbp 13" touch bar

new macbook can sometime get around 4315 to 45** mah when new on touch bar. but remember that doesn't make your battery last longer. all this mah is an illusion. so please leave this alone to make yourself more happy.

Battery in link in earlier (2017) post is 4790 mAh standard capacity. My replaced 2016 battery is 4315 mah. So seems same. 2017 just bigger.

that is macbook pro non touch bar is 4790 mah. non touch bar battery is slightly bigger than touch bar classified
[doublepost=1502049671][/doublepost]the reason is apple marketing for make people feeling buying non touch bar because the battery is bigger for exchange get only 1 fan and without touch bar.
