Just got my Macbook Pro 2 days ago. I love it, except recently I've encountered this problem: http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photoxc6.jpg

I read something on the forums about the control+shift+eject quickfix (which worked) but still this worries me. What exactly is causing it? Is it the graphics card, firmware, a bug? Thanks for your help. :)

Ctrl+Shft+Eject changes the display, so we can't help you if we don't know what's going on.

Since it is only 2 days old, Apple should replace it with a brand new system.

I don't understand what is exactly causing the problem. What if the vertical stripe issue is affecting all the mbp notebooks? I don't want to trade mine in unless absolutely neccessary because I already spent hours setting it up / customizing it. :(

Also, I have AppleCare, so is there any harm in waiting?

Some 8600's are about as much use as a chocolate kettle mate, I'd take that back right away.

Ask them for some cheese while your there too.
