As for uninstalling apps on a Mac, the process is MUCH easier than it is on the PC side. No need to go to the Control Panel to uninstall an application. Just drag it to the trash and it's gone. Some programs do have preference files (.plist) that they leave behind in the Library, but they're harmless and take up negligent space. Some more advanced programs like Logic, Final Cut, and the Adobe Creative Suite do need to be uninstalled since they do place a lot of additional components in the Library folder, but the install discs for those programs have the uninstaller app on them.
If you want to make sure that you're removing all files when you're getting rid of a particular program, you can download AppZapper and it'll take care of the rest for you.
Welcome to the light side of computing.
