I got my new 2.6ghz 256GB 13" rMBP today. Took it out of the box, restored from time machine, everything hunky dory except....

The battery cycle is on 3, and I've not plugged it in for its first charge yet. Is that normal?!

On a side note, the menu bar seems to disappear from the top of the screen each time I quit an app, but as soon as I click into anything else it comes back. Assume this is a software related issue?!

I think the task bar thing is a feature apple has turned on by accident in the latest build. They test and burn in your battery before delivery so 3 cycles is normal.

Try this fix:

Hi I got a new MBP Retina this week and I got exactly the same two things:

1. menubar keeps disappearing: after a couple of times restarting it just kept being there so it solved itself I guess
2. battery load cycles at 3: asked Genius at the Apple Store about it and he told me that it is normal to have 1-3 cycles at a new battery due to tests by the manufacture

Enjoy your new MBP :)
