I can't seem to find a straight answer online (or just my usual problem of looking in the wrong places), but I was wondering if the brand of the battery pack mattered or just the sync/charge cord when it comes to items that are safe for the iPhone.

I read that certain cords are bad as they don't charge properly and will damage the iPhone's hardware, but is the same true for power sources like travel battery packs?

Basically, can I buy a $20-$30 odd brand battery pack and not blow up my phone or should I spend $40-$50 on Belkin? Details as to why or why not so I can understand and apply that knowledge elsewhere would be great too.

Thanks for any advice on this!
