Everyone knows Dieter Rams is one of Jonathan Ive biggest inspirations sources . Lots Of Braun products clearly are inspiration sources of all of Apple products

Looking at some design by Dieter Rams reacently I found someting that I thought I seen befour ...

Its clear to me that the Braun Toaster HT 2 is something Jonathan have had as inspiration to the new iPhone 5 Design

Look at the product in the bottom right on this image ..

I think you're reading too much into it.

You could find hundreds of products with a metallic finish and black bands if you could look at them all.

It's easy to find "coincidences" or synchronicity when you think a lot about something.

This is similar to apophenia or the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. Basically, the more you analyse, the more you notice.

Sure, Ives has been inspired by Dieter Rams a lot but assuming he was this time simply for making a metallic object with two black bands is pushing it.

Apple likes aluminium and would probably make the iPhone back all aluminium if it wasn't blocking wireless signals by creating a Faraday cage. The logical choice for a second color is black since that's the color of the front bezel and it looks better to have no more than 2 dominant colors. Putting both sides black is just for symmetry (which always look good) and there may be some technical reasons as well like separating Wi-Fi signal from the NFC chip or something like that.
