If you are an owner of a 3G 16GB (in great condition) and are not yet eligible for an upgrade, here's how to upgrade to the 3Gs and break even:

Step 1: Purchase the 3Gs 16GB and pay the additional $200 early upgrade fee.

Step 2: Sell your 3G on eBay for at least $400, maybe closer to $500.

- The iPhone must be in GREAT condition

- Helps to have all accessories

- Helps to have the official "Apple" branded box along with all documentation.

Boom! Your Set!

Me, personally I'm gonna wait for the 4th Gen.

Note: 8GB 3G will sell for less, thus having to pay money for upgrade.

"- Include headphones from newly purchase 3Gs (nobody want's your earwax)"

why the hell would i include the new headphones...with the volume control on them..

...bad idea there

...they can have my earwax.. ;)

Shoot sorry, didn't know about the new headphones, post has been edited.

ur a genius

I think that is what everyone is planning on doing if they already own an iPhone. true...it does help to have the original box and documentation.

So your idea is to simply sell your existing 3G? Revolutionary.

Believe it or not, at least one person who reads this didn't know they could sell their current phone for that much loots.

Dude, take your negativity elsewhere.

And you can guarantee this? ;)

Browse ebay..... Find out yourself.

Market value for a new 16GB 3G is around $800. The majority of the world's cell networks are GSM which uses sim cards. The iPhone is a high valued item my friend.

And you can guarantee this? ;)

You can get closer to this "guarantee" by including good hi-res pictures of the actual iPhone you are selling in the ebay listing. Also, wait for a potential 3.0 unlock released by the dev team since unlocked iPhones sell for a higher price.

You and hundreds if not thousands are selling on eBay, a 3g is going for about $350 and expect that to get even lower in the next few weeks.

Unlocking

If you are running 2.2.1 on your iPhone and have it jaibroken, you can download an application through cydia that will allow you to downgrade your baseband so you can use yellowsn0w.

Yea, the 8GB is going for $350, not the 16GB.

Bet you $50 that the majority of the world uses GSM and not CDMA.

Bet you $1000 that CDMA doesn't use SIM cards.

That is only if you have the 5.08 bootloader and not the 5.09.

My Jailbroken iPhone is on eBay right now at $375 with one day left. Hopefully it breaks $400 and I can pre-order the 32GB.

There are 16GB ones selling for less than $400. So, although you might sell it for the prices you claim, you also might not. There's just no guarantee. If you set a reserve, it might not sell at all.

The real bidding starts in the last 30 seconds of the auction.

If you know how to post, and I mean a proper post on ebay, then no doubt you will get over $400. If you don't know what a proper post is, then don't do it.

OP, not sure which eBay your talking about, I did find a near new 3G 16gb for $375 shipped with box and accessories. Search eBay "iPhone 3G 16GB Black" and click on the BIN listing.

Again, expect this to go near $300 in the next two to three weeks when all those who bought the 3GS are heading to eBay as soon as they swap out their SIM card.

Say a real good looking listing last night end at $478. It's all about presentation. Thats what makes eBay so great.

Sheesh, again not sure what eBay are you talking about, I did a search for "iPhone 3G 16GB Black New" and got over 10 selling for less than $600 shipped.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

So, what'll it be? PayPal or check? Jk...

I'll take that bet.

I'll bet you then! The Storm has built in CDMA that doesn't use a SIM card. The SIM is for roaming worldwide on GSM Verizon partners (eg. Vodafone).
