AppleCare wasn't available for the iPhone prior to this in Canada. Also seen here.

Ah, thanks.

Really? I wonder why......

With the thread title, I assumed that Canadians were getting something before everyone else ("lucky").
So I guess the title of this thread really should be: "Breaking: About friggin' time Canadians"

Unfortunately also useless for those that got our iPhone 3G on launch week, since our warranties expired last week, and Apple care can only bought while your warranty is still valid.

Talked to Apple today. They have no idea about people who purchased between launch and today if anything will be done, but as of right now they are S.O.L.

Please change the title to unlucky Canadians.

I bought mine shortly after launch, meaning my window to get this is quickly closing, I wonder if I should. Thoughts anyone?

Same with my MacBook ... should I get this crazy thing?!

EDIT - oh crap, the post above me seems to settle that I supposed.

If enough people get on the phones with Customer Relations we may see a change.

I just waited 2 hours for a call back and just got called back from a CR Manager.

He said the official decision was that no Applecare will be extended on iPhones purchased before 1 year as of today.

So basically everyone who purchased on launch or within 19 days of launch is officially screwed.

Apple has totally dropped the ball on this one.

Well ... Apple Care can only be applied to phones still within their original warranty.

It's been over a year since launch, so I suppose it makes sense .....

How does it make sense? It should have been released with enough time for all 3g owners to purchase. Should have been released at the end of June for example not just shy of 1 year.

It does not make sense that someone who bought 4 weeks after launch can be covered because they finally got around to selling it, versus someone who bought within the 19 days after launch.

Makes no sense at all actually.

Hey ... I'm surprised Apple Care came out at all. I'm surprised it didn't come out 6/12/24 months from now.

Apple Care "should" have been last year. Sure, I guess so. I guess they were timing it with the 3GS launch.

What can you do about it?
