I just bought a refurbed as new 2020 imac 27" that I will be doing my main work as a designer and consultant at.
(When I'm at home) ..
Also bought a mac studio, and have an old 2015 rMBP 13".
I intend to use the the mac studio for heavy tasks only, like just having it chewing data and rendering in hidden cabinet somewhere all day.
While the 27" imac is more than enough for my graphic work and actually doing the work on.
ANYWAYS:
I wonder if any have experience with using a macbook to remote desktop something like a mac mini or studio - and not just like normal remote desktopping - but to use the macbook as such? ... I love this old macbook still, but it lacks the powers the mac studio has obviously.
How close to a "mac studio" experience can I get on this old macbook trough remote desktop software?
It's running ventura flawlessly with OCLP btw.
I can still do some things on it, even a bit of modern photopshoping, just not graphic related tasks ...
So... I'm looking for a remote desktop app, that will preserve me as much of a 1:1 modern macbook experience as possible, running the mac studio from "afar".
Optimally it should be bearable to work in the environment for an entire day of remote work.
Should not feel like remote to much. But would also like to still have access to the 2tb NVME on the macbook.
Any suggestions?
*notice we have decent internet in Denmark, and mostly I will be using it at home at a 100 mbit connection.
**Should also be able to remote control the imac, from the rMBP from other rooms or whatever.
So I can continue work where I left off...
When my software eventually stops being supported on the iMac, my idea is to do the same and use the imac with the mac studio with luna display or something; but to be honest, right now my "new" 2020 iMac max out all my needs at home... but only when I sit at the desk.
