Tired and Disappointed!!!!

I live in Brazil and I bought in the US one HomePod (big version) when released.

Really loved the sound tremendous quality, design, not too much the interaction with SIRI and high price. Though it worth it and decided to buy another one to put them in a STEREO config. Nice upgrade!

But things got worse in IOS 14 mainly with these issues:

- play music synchronized (STEREO): many times one play radio and the other play music from my iPhone
- playing songs through my Macbook in HomePod became a nightmare (always crashed)
- poor sound quality (distorted base)

Anyway, these issues never happened before. So I decided to RESET them via Home App.

The result was totally unexpected because one of them rebooted normally but the other died completely (circulating gray circle forever).

Tried the RESET procedure from Apple`s Support webpage but that dammed circle never disappeared and SIRI never got back.

Now I have a bricked HomePod and this product is not been commercialized in Brazil. Called US Support by phone and they said the solution is to pay almost 300.00 USD.

Guys!!! I just RESET the devices. Normal procedure in any device. Not a result of a misusage.

Apple is no longer that Company I used to admire. Totally disrespect with a loyal customer.

What should I do?

Regards,
R

First thing I would do is unplug it and leave it unplugged for a day or so before plugging back in. See if that makes a difference. You may have done that already, but your post did not say one way or another.

You stated that you purchased when released, if so then you've had this HomePod for a couple of years so it is out of warranty, which is why you were told it would take such an expensive repair. Which is more than what a new HomePod can often be purchased for these days if you catch a sale.

I would still suggest that you contact Apple Support, use the chat feature, and discuss with them. See what they recommend. Even though you've already talked to Support one time. They may be able to give you some technical advice to get it booted back up and running again.

Final comment is that just because one Apple product has a problem a few years after you purchase it - that is enough for you to change your opinion of the entire company?
