I've been using a jailbroken iPhone 3G for a year. I successfully did it myself following online instructions but I don't remember the details. Yesterday I decided to sell it and wanted to remove all my data. I went into Settings-->Reset-->Erase All Content and Settings. It appeared to succeed but then got stuck in a never ending restart cycle. All I ever got to was the nice little pineapple symbol. That ended when I put it in DUF mode. I have not seen the home screen since so I have no access to Cydia. I can put it in DUF mode (black screen) or recovery mode (connect to itunes screen) but a reset using any firmware found here always fails. I have no idea what "baseband" it is or what version of iOS I have on it.
I've tried using PwnageTool 4.3.3 and every firmware version I try says I've chosen the wrong firmware bundle. I don't even know if that's the correct route to take. I also tried holding "Option-->Restore" and trying to manually install on iTunes. That also fails no matter which firmware I use.
I've seen errors #1015 and #1600 on iTunes.
Any ideas on how I can diagnose and fix this? Thanks!
