my iPhone 5 was starting to act up so I decided to do a hard reset. Then after the screen went black the apple logo never popped up. Now it won't turn back on and whenever I plug it into the charger that won't turn it back on either. The phone was at about 98% battery life whenever I did the hard reset. It is an iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.2 non jail broken. Any help is appreciated:) thanks.

Try powering it back on, it won't always restart after a hard reset.

If not then fully charge it and try again.

If not plug it into iTunes and do a DFU restore.

Try doing a DFU restore through iTunes if you can't turn it on. Or Genius Bar.

Ok I don't wanna sound like a noob here but I've never really messed around with DFU mode. So how would I do a DFU restore?

Try holding them down until the Apple logo reappears, not just until the screen turns black.

I did for awhile after and I thought it was taking kinda long so I let go and tried turning it back by holding the power button and it didnt work.

No worries, here's a good guide I used when I downgraded from iOS 7: http://m.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

You may need to copy and paste the link into your address bar, or simply google "DFU restore iphone"

Try this...
Connect to your computer open iTunes
Hold the home and power button for 10 seconds.

Let go of the power button, but KEEP HOLDING the home button until iTunes has reconized your iPhone.

And then click 'Restore'. It will restore the device & maybe update the iPhone, if the iPhone isn't updated already.
