Bricked unlocked phone - how to get out of recovery mode? Fixrecovery not compatible

Hi all

I've bricked my 3GS. It's stuck in recovery mode.

I've tried Fixrecovery, but both v4.3 and v4.21 gives me the
"Sorry device is not compatible with this jailbreak" error.

May i know how to get my phone working again? :(
I'm also not certain what the previous firmware, and don't know the tools to use to find that out.

Thanks for the help in advance!

1st it's not bricked! 2nd provide with details

Do you have SHSH Blobs for 4.2.1 4.3.3 etc. you can use tinyumbrella to check. you can also use it to kick it out of recovery.
what baseband do you have installed.
if you want help provide useful info...

based on what I seeing though I going to say you don't have the shsh blobs for the firmware you trying to install or at least you are not doing it correctly.

Nope, i don't have any SHSH blobs :( And i have no idea what baseband i have installed. Anyway to restore without these? Or am i screwed? :(

might want to go back to my post #3 ;)

sorry, but if i do not have baseband and SHSH blobs saved, does it mean there's no way out of recovery mode? I want to provide the required info, but other than the fact that phone is 3GS 16gb, i can't provide anything more since the phone is out of action ... :(

Without blobs, all you can do is restore to the latest firmware, 4.3.5.

that will be fine, as it is a phone i bought off ebay. How can i do a restore to the latest firmware? fixrecovery is not working for me as you can see from the first post :(

for right now forget fixitrecovery never did like that program. try IREB http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/products/view/ireb.snow but I tunes should be able to recognize it then say yes to restoring to the latest firmware. worry about jb after. I think getting you back up and running is the 1st thing. after you can use sn0wbreeze or RedSn0w I like the latter for a tethered jb. tutorial here http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=15595 for Redsn0w here is a guide for Sn0wbreeze http://www.ultrasn0w.ca/2011/04/sn0wbreeze-26-download-available-guide.html

Hi labman, thanks tons for your suggestions! Carrying on from iHuaZai, I used ireb, but after using itunes10.2 to restore firmware 10.4 (i don't want to but none of the custom .ipsw work) i get error 1015 of course which i can't seem to get out of.
have tried the sn0wbreeze tutorial but the links to ipsws don't load on the 2.6.1 either.

Totally appreciate youre Help!!!! :D
