have recently purchased a new 23" to run extended desktop however the old 23 (1.5years old) is looking pretty dull in comparison to the new one. have tried all sorts of recalibration settings but nothing comes close. is there any way to fix ? cheers s

Only thing you can really do is replace the backlight. That will restore the original brightness to the display. You can look around online for places that replace backlights, or you can just do it yourself if you're experienced enough.

turn off all unnecessary lights in the vicinity of your monitor. paint your walls and furniture black.

the increased luminance difference between your monitor and it's surroundings will produce the illusion that it's brighter.

:p

The ACD's were a few months ago quietly updated. They got better lighting, and response time went from 16 to 14 ms.
