When I try to move the toggle in the settings to change brightness it behaves weird. For instance, when I press the trackpad, hold it and move the toggle, it works normal, but when I simply click on the line by tapping the trackpad without holding it, brightness doesn't change. I have MacBook Air M1. Is this a glitch? Thanks in advance.

Hmm. Not sure. My brightness sliders (in System Preferences > Displays and also the one in the menu bar) both seem to work normally when I slide them back and forth or click in a particular spot to jump to that brightness level.

I tested it and it works both ways, as well as using the brightness function keys, which is how I usually adjust it. Are you running OS Monterey by chance? Because I'm still on OS Big Sur.

I'm running OS Monterey. I've tried to capture what's happening on a video. This only happens when I change the brightness by tapping in Display Settings.

Mine moves and the brightness changes properly to match each click along the bar. Don't think I'm seeing what you are. I'm on Monterey 12.3.1 currently.

The weirdest thing is that it's only happening in display settings.

I tried the same thing and it works properly. I think the good news is if you can adjust brightness some other way, then you don't have a screen/hardware problem, but instead you have a software problem.

Any possible solutions how to fix it?
