When I go to turn my 3GS on from being locked, the backlight doesn't always come on. you can still see the icons & etc. it's just very dim and i have to lock it and unlock again for the backlight to turn on. does anyone know about this problem? also, if the backlight is on and I barely tap it on the top left corner the backlight will turn off. can anyone give some info to this. My friends has been not displaying backlight after every few screen unlocks since he got it. mine just started.

That's a bug in 3.0 and hopefully it will be fixed when 3.1 comes out. Mine has done it a few times.
no, i can turn brightness up all the way and it still does it. when the backlight goes off it looks worse than when brightness is all the way down. just wondering if it's something wrong with the phone ie a circuit board or the wires to the screen?
even when you tap the top left corner of the phone and the backlight turns off? don't know how that can be software related...
Yeah, I haven't seen one thread about anything software related like this yet.

Searched around and found something pretty quick. I would have never guessed a problem with the backlight like this being software related.
It's either software-related or a sensor issue. Do you have a case and does it cover any of the sensors?
i have a hard shell case i ordered from at&t when i ordered the phone. it doesn't cover any sensor
