I've a number of issues where the auto brightness setting on the iPhone didn't work. But has anyone run into the issue that after you set the brightness at a certain level, it would randomly reset to the brightest setting?

This has been happening to me since the iPhone 4S and under iOS 6 and iOS 7. And now on the iPhone 5S. I would set the brightness level to a little less than half the full brightness, and then turn on auto brightness feature. But randomly, it would reset to the brightest setting (auto brightness still activated), even though the lighting condition has always been the same. Then I decided to see what would happen if I turned off auto brightness. Nope, randomly, the brightness would reset from middle bright, to brightest setting. This happens randomly whenever hard reboot, normal power on and off, or just leave the phone alone.

Can anyone provide an explanation for this? Oh...and my phone is suddenly sucking up battery faster than it did just a week ago. Nothing different done to the phone. This is one of the things I cannot stand about the iPhone/iOS. It will be completely fine one day, and out of nowhere, it just goes to crap. Then I have to do all the resetting and reinstalling from scratch to "eliminate any issues". My Mac has very few issues that arise, and each one is explainable, and easily fixable. But with the iPhone (3GS to 5S), since iOS 4, it's a crap shoot. You never know what your going to find. When it's working as it should, it's very reliable. But when it starts to act up, you feel like smashing it against the wall.

I still think Apple pushes some crap onto your phone to make it act up. I find this stuff happens more frequently when a new iOS or iPhone is coming out. If they can push/download iOS updates to your device without your knowledge or permission, I'm sure they can install other things on your phone without you knowing. Yes, there will be times when an update badge will suddenly pop up on my Preference icon. And I loose about 1-3GB of space because of it. And I won't be able to recoup that space back unless I update. Which eliminates your CHOICE of upgrading or not. Just an observation over the years.
