Hi there. Longtime lurker, first time mac owner as of last weekend, couldn't be happier with it, but experiencing one minor irritation.... at the time of purchase I also bought a mini displayport to DVI adaptor, which is now plugged into a DVI -> HDMI cable that has worked great on my previous PC -> TV conifg.

The problem I find is that when watching video (divx/xvid mainly) with VLC, Quicktime or the native preview movie app (imovie? not sure, whatever it is that loads up when you select a video file and hit spacebar) the output to the TV has a flickering problem, not overly noticeable, but enough that it's irritating. Mostly this occurs when the shot or scene changes, the brightness level will shoot up a moment before normalizing. I'm thinking this is some sort of filter or codec problem, but I can't be entirely sure. I've done plenty of googling but I think the terms are too generic to get a hit.

Anyone have any experience with this particular issue? Any help or troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'm still feeling my way around preferences and system settings.

Cheers!
