Anyone else OCD about the brightness level of your iPhone? I'm so worried a ten percent change is going to hurt my battery life lol. I hate auto brightness when I'm up, but love it when I'm in bed and getting tired. I wish there were in depth tests of the hit the battery takes at every brightness level, as well as with auto brightness on or off.

I am using it this way and am pretty happy with it:

Perfect battery life also..

Personally I don't see the point of watching the percentage and worrying about it. Use the phone, enjoy it and then plug it in and start all over again ;)
My brightness is shown below and I don't mind the extra hit on the battery. If i go any lower than this, when in a dark room the brightness will be too low for my eyes. So this is a compromise I'm willing to make!

Woah! Idk how you deal with that lol. That'd be wayyy too dark for me. Must have incredible battery life for sure.

Mine was on that exact percentage probably, until I went to messing with it and noticed it really deteriorated the actual color of pictures and what not. I have it about 10 percent higher than that now.

I always use 100% brightness. I like my iPhone screen sexy.

I'd think that would fry the battery life! I just enjoy my iPhone being able to go all day with moderate to heavy usage, as no other phone I've ever used (especially the Android ones) could come close. Blackberry 9810 could but that's just cause it didn't offer enough to make me want to use it much haha.

Interesting... I never thought it would have that big of an impact on colors. I'll have to try out the brighter setting...

I don't feel like taking a picture, but my slider is right underneath the "gh" on brightness.

I think this is a good setting for both bright rooms as well as dark rooms.

My brightness level is at 50% (the default setting it sets at when first using it). I usually keep it there and I do have auto brightness turned. I normally charge mine every night regardless where the battery is. This way I have a fully charged phone in the morning.

100% used here, on both my iPad 3 and iPhone 4s, however I am often within range of a socket to charge from in my daily life.

I keep my brightness at the Br/Ri in brightness (about 30%). I also leave auto brightness on. I don't know how people leave their screen at 50%, 75%, or 100%. My eyes burn when I look at 100% phone. And then they complain their battery dies so fast.

Yes, mine too, I have too sensitive eyes and it hurts when the brightness is above 30-35%.

Set it where it makes you happy :)

I used it for a week @ 60%. Later I bumped it down for longer battery life.

All is well.

I'd say mine is at about 70% now with auto brightness on, and with 5% battery left I logged 14 1/2 hours of standby with 7 hours and 22 minutes of actual usage. That consisted of a short phone call, texting, Facebook app, and the majority used web browsing.

anyone else think it would be awesome if they put in the actual percent that your phone is at?

That way people could actually see exactly what the person is talking about.

someone says "my phone is at 43% brightness"

you think "hmmm lets see what it looks like" and you could put it to exactly 43%

I used I keep it at 100% all the time
But it wasn't easy on the eyes

I now use f.lux (cydia only) and now it changes the brightness for me for day light settings to night settings.
Better for me as I at night read a lot after work and the f.lux app adjust to a much warmer view

Agreed!

If u have a 4s u can ask Siri to set the brightness level to whichever % u want

I keep mine low and then when I go outside, the light sensor brightens the screen for me. No issues.

Same here.

Siri will do this for you only if your device is jailbroken.
Most of the users here have already iOS 5.1, 5.1.1 , so no way for them.

Screen Brightness does affect the battery life, so it's preferred to have lower brightness that you are comfortable with.

Screen Brightness

By far the most common drain on battery life is the iPhone's LED backlit screen. Apple recognizes this, and iOS devices come with settings that automatically adjust the screen to ambient light. If you're really strapped, you can adjust the brightness manually under Settings > Brightness. Lowering it will conserve battery life, but not by much. Most battery drain occurs when you increase the brightness above the default setting...

enlighten us :) that's amazing.

I like auto brightness off. keeps the phone at a uniform display but have to spike up the level when outdoors in the sun. most of the day at the office so don't really feel the need to adjust.

Brightness

My iphone 4s is working fine apart from the screen. Does anyone know how to increase the brightness of the screen without actually being bale to see anything? Please help! :(
