For some reason my imac is reducing the brightness of the display when I don't even have the brightness reducer button selected. No matter what I set it to the display always dims after a couple minutes. This is really annoying when watching movies. Does anybody have any idea why my imac is doing this and how I could fix it? I have a 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo imac with 2GB of ram.

It's a bug with the iMac (at least the white iMac). You need to unclick and click on the "Automatically reduce brightness of display before sleep" button. It will revert back to reducing brightness of display after each restart (even if the button is clicked), so once you do this the only way to keep the setting is to put the computer to sleep rather than shut down.
