Hi All

I have just realised that the Brightness slider in Display Prefs on my Mac Pro is missing.

Running SL 10.6.2 with an Apple 24inch ACD connected.

Any ideas anybody ?

Thanks....

I've never had a brightness slider. If you're using a non-Apple monitor, you won't either. If you are, then I have no idea.

Thanks....

Took a bootable backup of my Mac Pros HD and booted my iMac with it, everything works OK.

So the problem lies within the Mac Pro somewhere, somehow...

just to be sure the USB cable from the display is plugged in right?

try it in a different port if you havent already.

Thanks, but tried all USB ports :(

Had a think back to when this started and think I have it.

It all used to work OK, then my ACD had to go for repair (dirt in the Panel) while it was away I used a Samsung Monitor
plugged into the DVI port.
Since the return of the ACD I have had no Brightness slider nor F1 and F2 key brightness function.

Monitor and keyboard have been tested on other macs and they all work as they should.

It is as though my Mac Pro thinks the Samsung is still connected, very strange :/

Are you able to change the brightness on the keyboard? (That's assuming you use an Apple keyboard)
