Wow I was shocked to see the mac rumors fail thread closed.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/473897/

It almost broke my heart.
I have enjoyed the thread for some time now. Some very funny pics and stories showed up in their.

I know their are many other community forums. That have the same kind of thread going on. It was just nice to see one here. News, rumors, advice, help and gut busting laughter, is what I would get out of my visit to Macrumors.

Ran its course... it needs a rest for a while

this isn't a democracy. the mods decided that it wasn't worth the cleanup or other work to keep the thread going. it ran its course. and is now done with. end of story. would've been better to never have created this thread either. :p

I too liked that thread :(. It was good fun but reading it now it is clear that it had run its course and was starting to be pathetically misused for religious/political purpose. Looks like it was closed just in time.

Speaking of which, do any of the forum sites actually take thread out due to the voting process (like some have where you can vote the thread up or down as interesting or not interesting).

Edit... Just to see, I voted this thread "Terrible".

^^ Nah, only if it is a problem, goes way off topic or deals with off limit issues. Just because it sux is not usually a reason.

It was a great thread, but there was nothing really original in a while, and almost 1/3 to 1/2 of the things posted in the last month have been posted before. And the thread was getting way to personal and off-course. The last posts there were very attacking and were seemed offensive from the little that I saw of them. I say no for now, but in about maybe 3-4 months I can see it coming back.

That's too bad. Should be a system of if say 50 people say kill it, then it dies :D

I know, we could have a monthly thread burning ceremony. We all gather around our computers and watch the moderators throwing the months worst threads into a virtual fire pit :D

Better keep it interesting, or watch it get voted down in flames ;)

If it sux, it usually dies quickly on its own anyway

Or goes way off topic and turns out to be pretty good

yes i agree. the current system we have works great. and we kinda do have a way to vote. bad threads need to be reported. and they're closed. if need be.

The iPhone forums would be perpetually empty under this scheme ;).

Yep. Kinda hard to get wrapped up in the iPhone discussions:

Hey, my iPhone's pretty.

Hey, mine sucks.

Hey, my iPhone's soooooooooooooo Cool.

My Phone's lame

AT&T Sucks

Does anyone know if AT&T Sucks?

I wish AT&T didn't suck.

Did I miss anything?????? :D

See how this "bad" thread has gotten completely off topic but has stimulated interesting conversation ;)

Easy to do when the topic is lame. Surely off-topic is more interesting than lame topic :D

Sorry, but it's not happening. Similar threads are OK at some point in the future as long it doesn't get political/controversial and doesn't just re-post everything we've already seen. :)
