It has surfaced, that in the 1970's, British Rail filed for a patent for a Fusion powered Flying Saucer... clicky

Well... now how are we going to be able to tell the alien UFO's from our own? Way for these people to just complicate things....

Since Nuclear fusion is still just dreams this is pure Fud. 1st you need a fusion reactor which there isnt any let alone one that would fit into a smaller ship. Fiction

Shouldn't be a problem – the alien saucers would actually work, while the BR ones would be breaking down all the time due to "the wrong type of clouds"...

Meanwhile, the BBC has posted some images of some other interesting patents, including a 'hover-train' from 1969, and a 1967 plan for converting human waste into rocket fuel.

Truly, we live in amazing times.

Yea I read about this in the Observer/Guardian (I forget) yesterday or the day before. Think it was front page. would be great to hop on one for travel... then again if it was built then we probably wouldn't have been as excited about it today :)
