I'll be buying an eMac soon.
I also have a Windows 2000 box.
I would like to share my broadband connection. Is it possible to just connect the USB modem to my Mac, an Ethernet cable from the Mac to the W2K box and share the connection that way?

Thank you.

Technically, yes you probably can if you set up Internet sharing on your Mac.

However, I would recommend purchasing a low-cost wired router and hook them both up to that. Less problems, more efficient, more secure.

Although macs don't generally support usb modems. Is there no ethernet port on the modem?

Either way, I'd do the same: get a cheap router for $30 or so, and then avoid worries about internet sharing and having both computers on, etc.
