It was already hinted recently that Broadwell is coming much later than expected, but now there are slides out that puts the bulk of it definitely into Q1 2015.

Intel is has Broadwell not even on the roadmap for 2014 anymore. Atom 14nm is still on there.

Some Broadwell may show at the end of the year.
The exception are only a couple of 15W CPUs but as far as I can tell not the ones in with HD 5000 in the Air.

For any MacBook Pro refresh it is safe to say people can forget about Broadwell until some possible Q2 2015 refresh or very late in Q1.
Maxwell GPUs and 20nm GPUs in general for the 15" are the only significant upgrade that may show up sooner.

Just as an update as many still seem to hope for some late summer refresh with Broadwell, which is nowhere even close.

What about this article?

Intel on Thursday brushed aside a rumor that it is again delaying the release of its first 14-nanometer processors code named Broadwell.

The rumor came from DigiTimes, which reported earlier this week that the first chips based on Intel's new 14nm architecture would be delivered to computer makers in "limited volumes in the fourth quarter" instead of in the third quarter, as the tech site claimed Intel had been planning.

n its latest statement on the matter, Intel said production of the next-generation Broadwell line will begin by the end of this quarter, with delivery of product to its OEM partners scheduled for "later this year."

On Thursday, an Intel spokesman reiterated what the company said during a January earnings call about the prospects for Broadwell and emphasized that there had been "no change in what we've said."

It was already delayed until Q4, so its not a stretch to see it delayed further

It's going to be delayed till 2015 for sure.
They even said that they have to much stock of haswell cpu's left.
The desktop CPUs won't be delayed, they said, only mobile ones.

I don't quite see how that article says anything even mildly specific. In the end they also discuss the reason behind the delay being that Haswell just has no competition to fear even if they would use it for 2 years without an update. They do however seem to prioritize Atom which is where Intel faces an uphill climb against ARM. They can barely hold their ground against 28nm ARM bigLittle SoCs and are going up against 20nm soon. They need 14nm there but there is nothing whatsoever even remotely threatening Core i. They are better of selling their Haswell Stock before they have to discount the old chips when new ones are out.

They will release a couple of those mainstream 15W chips just so they can say they did release Broadwell still in 2014.

The only part of importance, from what I read, was the intel spokeswoman denying the rumors. Just a couple of days ago.

She is not denying specific rumors just that they are delayed again. They also say "later this year". That is just the usual marketing talk and basically means there aren't any unintentional delays due to problems. They do it as they planned it. It is really info for the stock holders, so they don't think they are problems with the process and Intel is acting less than optimal.

So we could see either a March/April refresh of the MBPs with the updated Haswell chips, or a June/summer refresh with the new chips and Maxwell GPU...

Those who are scared of buying hardware with updates on the horizon will be miserable until early 2015 :D

On the pro side, Anand has another 10 months or so to finish his review.
